The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), located in Silver Spring, MD, is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports the national network of interdisciplinary centers advancing policy and practices through research, education and services for and with individuals with developmental and other disabilities, their families, and communities. AUCD also exchanges information and technical assistance with international affiliates and universities in several countries, including Australia, Great Britain, Spain, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia and is a member of the U.S. International Council on Disabilities.





MN UCEDD Supports Social Inclusion of Young Russians with Disabilities

Brian Abery and Ren�ta Tich� (shown in Moscow) from the Global Resource Center on Inclusive Education (GRC) at the Institute on Community Integration (MN UCEDD) are leading a new project known as Community Participation and Employment as Strategies for Social Inclusion: A U.S.-Russian Dialogue. The project aims to enhance the social inclusion of youth and young adults with disabilities by developing community living and supported employment programs in the Moscow area.

After spending five weeks in the US in an intensive fellowship program for inclusive disability employment, Victoria Lihiru returned home to Tanzania ready to make changes. She recently published an article in The Guardian newspaper in Tanzania, reflecting on her fellowship experiences and progress needed for people with disabilities. Her article is titled "Disability inclusive employment: My two cents from Green Mountain state" and can be read online: This article followed her participation in the Professional Fellows Program for Inclusive Disability Employment. This fellowship program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, and administered by AUCD in partnership with the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston and Humanity and Inclusion.
